After studying lacquer art at Kyoto City University of Arts and further refining his craft through specialized training in Kyoto and Kagawa, he succeeded to the name Hyoetsu as the fourth generation in 2020. He has received numerous honors, including the Kyoto City New Artist Award, the Kyoto Prefectural Cultural Award Encouragement Prize, and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Commendation (Encouragement Award). As a full member of the Japan Kogei Association, he continues to reinterpret the tradition of Kyoto lacquerware through a contemporary aesthetic.
