Guest of Honor: Shinbei Sakakura XVI

He inherited the Fukagawa Hagi kiln lineage, with a history of approximately 360 years, and succeeded to the name of the sixteenth-generation Shinbei Sakakura in 2024. Bringing the sculptural sensibility he developed at Tokyo University of the Arts into clay, he works not only with traditional Hagi clay but also with clay he has gathered himself. From tea ceramics to sculptural objects, he pursues a practice that draws out the many expressions of earth.
